The Original Akumal Dive Shop it´s been family oriented since its creation over 35 years ago and we have specialized in kids and their first dive experience.

Our staff is not only patient, the staff members that conduct programs for kids are parents or grandparents with a lot of understanding and care of the kids needs, behaves and motivations as well as tons of dive experience.

This is the very first option for you, a Dive Master will introduce you to the SCUBA then he will explain you about some of the basic skills that divers do and then he will take you through an amazing journey underwater in Akumal Bay.

The PADI Seal Team program is an exciting underwater activity-filled introduction to the world of diving. The PADI Seal Team program gives children a chance to swim around underwater and experience adventure, discovery and thrills. It also provides parents or guardians with a structured program that lets their children develop skills, learn about the aquatic realm and have a lot of good, clean fun.

Junior scuba diver or open water diver

A 12 to 14-year-old Junior Open Water Diver or Junior Scuba Diver is qualified to dive only when accompanied by another certified diver who is of legal age. Since Junior PADI Scuba Divers must dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor, this meets this standard’s intent. It’s recommended that a legal-aged family member accompany Junior students by taking the course with them. Junior Open Water Divers or Junior Scuba Divers may upgrade their certification level to PADI Open Water Diver or Scuba Diver when they reach the age of 15 with no additional requirements. If more than one year has passed since the diver earned the Junior certification, when requesting an upgrade, it is recommended that the diver complete a Scuba Review program.
